Existence Poem by Ciden Shi

Existence

I'm worthless, I always feel,
Lost in a world that seems surreal,
Where everything I do is never enough,
And the demons inside me are always tough.

I look in the mirror and hate what I see,
A reflection of someone who's not meant to be,
A failure in life, a burden to all,
A person who's destined to constantly fall.

The words of others cut me like a knife,
As they confirm my belief that I'm not worth life,
And the weight of their opinions bears me down,
As I struggle to find my way around.

But I know that this feeling is just a lie,
A trick of the mind to make me think I'm not alive,
For deep down inside, I know I'm more,
Than the worthless person I've come to deplore.

So I'll fight against these feelings of despair,
And try to find some hope in the air,
For though it may be hard to believe,
I know that inside, I'm worth more than I perceive.
