Exist As If I Didn't Exist Poem by Anaswara Divakaran

Exist As If I Didn't Exist

I was always asked to tie up my tongue and exist as if I didn't exist.

To stifle my cries and put concealer on the Crimson marks that adorned my body.

They said my mom did the same, so I should too.

Aunts, nieces, grandmas, God-mother's, sisters and best friends....

Everyone did that!
So I should too....
