For too long
I've held my breath,
tightly wound -
always on alert,
defenses raised,
poised to run.
But it's changed.
Now, with you,
the walls dissolve,
and I breathe deep -
unwinding by layers,
settled in my skin,
my mind at ease.
It's a precious gift,
this quietude,
this peace of heart,
And one I pray
the gods see fit
to bestow on you.
