Evolution Poem by Amy Serhienko

Evolution

Rating: 5.0

We wouldn’t have worked before.

We had too much to learn,
and too little to lose.

No passion in our lives.

No burning fire urging us onward,
to discover, to explore.

Just the embers of forgotten wishes.

But we are air and fire, you and I.

And we have fanned those embers;
first a spark, then a flame.

We pushed at our borders,
stretching the boundaries,
and found life on the other side.

Found each other.

It feels like a dream,
this bliss.

The journey we took
to get to this place.

The joy I feel
with your arms tight around me.

The touch of your hand,
your skin rough against my cheek.

The words you speak
softly in my ear.

The look in your blue eyes,
saying so much more than your words.

We wouldn’t have worked before.

But now?

Now, we are seamless,
and timeless,
and destined.
