Ethel In Limelight Poem by Victoria Annette Bailey

Ethel In Limelight

She's an Icarus in atmosphere
On flammable wings,
Escaping to the beautiful
Solitude sky brings.
Looking for the light
Finding the fire,
Acting on instinct
Unjust desire.
Living on judgments
Whispering prayer,
Burning already
Just halfway there.
Rainwater in clouds
Soothes her blistering skin,
Searching for redemption,
From devouring sin.
Ethel in limelight
Cast by the Sun,
Unlacing her cover
The story undone.
Ethel's combustion
Makes way for calm nights,
Her wings burn to ashes
She falls from her flight.
