Snow White & Mr Darcy Poem by Victoria Annette Bailey

Snow White & Mr Darcy

It seems far more romantic,
To leave romance to the pros
Romeo to Juliet
In the 90's; Jack to Rose.
Everyone can play pretend
With not a moment faux
But true love will never strike
Between the hopeless and the ho's.
Everyone wants magic,
Weddings or a first kiss,
But as far as passion's made to look
Only loathing ends in bliss.

Disney must have missed the end,
Snow White's final pages,
Happily ever after
Then she got divorced and aged.
Now she's a single Mum in Texas,
With the credit bailiff hounds
The dwarves all got amnesia
And never come around.
Prince Charming only wanted Snow
To marry Jean-Pierre
So he could get a visa
For their exotic, love affair.
She expecting, soon, a baby
By the man from in that bar,
She's chewing on aspirin
While he's smoking cigars.

Bridget Jones and Darcy
Left poor Daniel in the street,
After your first true-love-divorce
There's no landing on your feet.
Acting is romantic
It's a shame they don't exist
Except behind the paper gloss
Where their smiles remain unkissed.
