English Remedia Poem by Fagbenjo Ayomide

English Remedia

Rating: 4.8

It came in a moment when the country was confused
It came in a time when all head were bowed
It came in a period when we couldn't proceed
It came just like a flame to the aid of the country
In a moment when our language refuse to work
An era when the country would have been in desolation
A time when there was a question for national language
Though, it is a stranger but it has come to stay
It has promoted unity once again
It has upheld the falling nation
It has serve as light to our darkness
People called it English language
But we call it our language
Our colonial masters are gone and we are the bearer of it
Nigerians, proud to promote English.

English - our lingua franca is very essential in Nigeria as it bridges our language barriers. A lovely piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely penned with insight. Thanks for sharing Fagbenjo. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
