Enemy In Paradise Poem by Crystal Rosario

Enemy In Paradise

Dreaming of a world
Where I can live in peace
No more doubting if I'm loved
And all my worries would cease

I would no longer cry
I would no more be filled with sorrow
No one would be able to hurt me
And no more pain of tomorrow

I would be beside him
And he by me
I would finally be happy
At long last I'd be free

But in this new world I call home
There is a danger that lies within
It knows not where I'm going
But it knows where I have been

It speaks the horrors of my past
And keeps me from moving on
It's the dagger in my back
And it saddens my happy song

It appears when I am at my lowest
And it pulls me deep into darkness
It stabs at my open wounds
And it's blades are of the sharpest

But it is here I see it's face
And I think that it cannot be
I cry tears of resentment
Because the enemy is me
