End Of Lockdown Poem by Peter Pacey

End Of Lockdown

I love you! I love you!
Many months since we last met and now
You creep away from your adoring fans
And say to me 'I will never sit on your knee
The rest of your life'.
I howl in anguish but inveigle you
Closer to my knee and whisper
'I love you'.
'I am the opposite' is your reply.
Your face is close to mine
And something about your fingers
And for just an instant
Complete friendship.
You are six and we have a conspiracy of fun.
I howl again and you dive into
The sofa behind and fling your feet upwards
To be tickled and to be kissed.
So good! So good!
