End Poem by Liz Annson

End

Today in the end of all things
It is time for flying.
It is time to rejoice for the hope we once had
It is time for love to break free
It is time to lie in the sun
As it eclipses Jupiter.
Everything is collapsing inwards
Time for your last fix
Time for one last kiss
The last time of everything.
Lay down on the grass with me
Dance as rainbows fall
Ruination comes upon the universe
Watch civilizations collide
Watch rain fall up in the sky
Watch me run in the air
Wings erupting from my song.
Defying gravity
Defying everything
And the air sparkled in diamonds
And our water ran with gold
And our dead rise up to prance
In the last infernal dance
Say goodbye to your mother
Kiss her withered hand
Say goodbye to your father
Sinking in the sand
Say goodbye to your siblings
So you're running, cash in hand
On this final, furlong day
On this burning dying day
Watch the world fade away
Today, in the end of all things.
