Empty Nest Poem by konye ori

Empty Nest

Rating: 2.5

A smile; rooted in the soul,
Curving around the heart like a vine
Sprouted in the face of a baby drunk with joy
And in those eyes in high spirits
Was a picture of what life with you used to be

A sense I can only feel when in the world inside sleeping eyes

The door sighs, I strain my itching ears
Rays from my eyes brighten up my gloomy room

Again the west winds make a plaything of my heart
Blowing currents of naked hope

The cold nights torment me sour
The mornings make a mockery of me;

for I wait with hope; for yesterday to return.
