Employment Displacement Missing Digits Poem by Terence George Craddock

Employment Displacement Missing Digits

Rating: 5.0

my elder sister failed school 3 years in a row could stay
my parents gave me who passed 3 days to find a job;
I found a job as a saw doctor working in a bush sawmill
I found a job as a printer working in a printing business;

I found a job as a saw miller working in a local saw mill
job in a local saw mill was cutting up trees on industrial;
blades but in the end the local saw mill would not take me
they said I was my age too young the work was dangerous;

it was interesting years later having a beer with an old friend
with several missing fingers who had worked in a saw mill;
yes he had worked in a saw mill blades can be eye hypnotic

while having a beer mind plays tricks wants to hypnotic stare;
at missing fingers so surreal gripping his beer glass drinking
mind wants to replace missing fingers insists digits be there;
