Emerald Tears Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Emerald Tears

Emerald tears falling
Sleepless night
Dreams, Open eyes
Fantasy world never fully obliged

Starry sky, I beg
Make distance shorter
The sky closer
As magic comes to life
Sparkling in golden lit glitter euphoria

My soul, how much of it can one see?
Heart beating in the name of fantasy
Skin is a mirage
If only there was more of me
That could clearly be seen

In sorrow, at times comes strength
These words sacred from within
Trying so hard to let something in
Yet, why is there such a huge void in-between?
There has to be a center, if only

Emerald tears turning the ground
Into a sea of misunderstanding
Awkward waves crashing in
Into the reality of feeling so far away

I confide to the distance
Save me from this tsunami self
Would this soul be just enough?
There is more to life than just flesh

Emerald tears hiding
Underneath the sea
A place where these dreams reside

Dry these emotions
Drain the sea
Find lost land
As this heart opens
Only to become seized

Emerald tears pleading
Please, Trust me
There is much more to me
Than what eyes could ever see

Tonight blue becomes emerald eyed dreams
Dreaming upon the silence of the night

Distance, can you only see this soul?
Now what do I look like to you?
