Elvira Mcallen Poem by Juan Olivarez

Elvira Mcallen

Rating: 5.0

Long ago and far away,
I fell in love with you.
And yes I still can see the day,
In my minds eye, a love so true.
You were a child so very young,
And I so infantile,
We both unknowingly were stung,
By cupids feathered projectiles.
And we were blessed, by God above,
With what we both desired,
The one great gift, our precious love,
Brought to us, our first child.
Turbulent times, we had our share,
But through the troubled days,
God made the sky above so fair,
All we could see were golden rays.
And now the bird of youth departs,
And I still love you so,
And your sweet love still fills my heart,
As it did long ago.
Elvira McAllen, I always knew,
I'd spend my life with you.
I am the happiest man alive,
Because that day you said I do.

A very, very beautiful poem, an endearing message to the lady of your world of how much love grows with age. Very nice to see love continue, as it has with my wife, and put into a poem that will be everlasting just like your love for her. A great write. your friend, Lynn
