Elvie Lost In Wonderland Poem by elvashira silvertongue

Elvie Lost In Wonderland

Rating: 4.0

Come I'll tell you a story
About a girl with dark angel and light elvish blood mix.
The story begins when the sun's rays for the first time her cheek did kiss.
Conceived in summer's passionate but waning days.
She was different in all her ways, in all her pain.
Only her fairytales and her past life memories to keep her sane.
People look at her and say say isn't that girl strange?
She sits in her corner thinking upon days she could have never known.
Dreaming dreams of stories old.
She's so shy and yet so bold.
Don't look in her eyes they are as deep brown holes.
Pulling you in staring straight into your soul.
She's up in the clouds and on mountains high.
I wonder why she yet again sighs.
In love with the moon and the many faces of the skies.
She's dreaming of a life far away from here and of him
Forever lost in elvie's own version
Of wonderland.

I read DESIRE before this poem and I feel a close connection between the two of them. But this one, written about a week earlier, has a different emotional tone, distanced by the fact that someone else, who doesn't really know Elvie, is describing her from the outside. And is both puzzled and admiring of this person who is lost in her own world, clearly in a state of trance as she wanders through the bliss of memories. You wrote this narrative in a convincing way, it's a gem of characterization. I can only hope to have such experiences that will put me into such a state of fulfillment that I am gripped by my wondrous memories as the world slips by me in its ordinary routines, oblivious to the beauty that holds me transfixed.

A well articulated narrative poem, nicely penned in poetic diction. Thanks for sharing.
