A country that had just celebrated so gleefully
the platinum jubilee of their queen
since her ascension to the throne
had completed seventy years of reign;

the same nation now mourns
the death of their queen so wholeheartedly;
with sympathy and solidarity all day long;
many grieving hearts stand out on the streets
to bid farewell to their Queen
when her majesty's coffin passes by
thro' their cities and towns on her journey finale;

and as people keep rushing
to have a last glimpse of her, they await
with flowers and prayers for a queen
they so much admired and respected;
and as the curtain of life came down on her
it saddened many people but it made them realize
that aristocracy and royalty all dwindles with time
once death comes and carries away life even the greatest
to a distant destination entitled to us by divinity.

But as she lived she held on to her throne and crown
with dignity and faithfulness so significant
that her kindness and compassion will never be forgotten;
as she was so splendid in her obligations
as she was so graceful in her commitments;
her endurance and grace was also so remarkable.

Her people and her country now so bereaved
that they rush to place wreaths and flowers,
candles and sympathy cards everywhere;
they recline on the fondness of her memories
as not only a royal but also affable was she
not only a queen but also affectionate was she;
not only sincere to her duty was she but
also down to earth with least pride was she:

she would accept greetings and flowers
without any hesitation or restraint;
she always smiled and waved out to people
she would shake hands with those she interacted
she was so social and compassionate as a person;
today people in every street await to bid her goodbye
as the fragrance of her good deeds invade their senses;
who will not mourn for a queen like her
so humble and brilliant, so wonderful and patient;

yes, she shared a connection of love and unity,
of peace and harmony with every person and nation
which only a noble monarch like her could do
for seven decades with a crown on her head
and an enduring humility in her bosom
which will remain as her legacy and lesson of love
in the books of timeless history and true bravery.
