Elephant Tears Poem by casey callahan

Elephant Tears

How do you fix a hole in your heart?
You know I was born wondering where I start
The way I fall into your lies,
Pretending that I have a life.

More than you more than me,
I want a family to be.
More than her more than him,
I've been robbed again and again.

So how do I fix this hole in my heart?
I don't know the day it was to start.

Past the tears on the elephants,
Past the nights on the stairs.
I was born to be lonely,
And there's no one who cares.

You can't fix your future.
And you can't fix your past.
You can only make due with the things that will last
