I shoulda known we were trouble
'cause I stole him from another too

You got legs that reach the sky
And you know he's eyeing them down
You shoot him a million dollar smile
I can see we're going another round
I shoulda seen this day coming
'cause I used to sneak him around town

He went out late some nights
I didn't mind that kind of life
He always came back to his baby
and in the dark his eyes would cry
I know he loves me so
in those early morning hours

You saw a sadness in my mind
And boy you needed to understand
You saw the roundness of humankind
Right then I knew you're the sort of man
Who could join the tragic crew
of the few who know the tragedy at hand

We could go where no one knows
to a place where just us belong
Put your hand on my waist some more
Let's keep dancing from dusk to dawn
You may not be the one I love
But daring, you're the one I want

He still loves me you know
He will love me til the end of time
I'm his girl forever and so
We are the act of strangers being kind
To keep the broken hearts from bleeding
In the breath of whiskey and wine

The morning broke anyway
and my man saw me walking alone
He saw a difference in my stride
He saw a soul of blue fire turned cold
I think that's when he realized
That electric fuel was running old

He ran towards me with a look
a look of tenderness and fear
My heart and mind and hands he took
But I would not break into tears
playing my favourite record we began to sway
He told me he was sorry for these years

We cried and cried:
