Election Poem by Aryaman Naik

Cat, Bat and Rat
Formed All-India Motley Party
And stood for Election;
Can and Pan
Not to be left behind
Formed all-India Hot and Cold Party
And filed their nomination.

On the day of polling
A large number of people turned up
Some young, some old
Men and women
To elect their favourite leader.

When votes were counted
Everybody was perplexed
To see the election result
That was so unexpected.

Cat, Bat and Rat had lost the election!
Can and Pan too had lost the election! !
Who had the people then voted for?
Eyebrows were raised
Until it was declared
Their unanimously elected leader was
None other than Aryaman,
The spinner of words
And writer of verse
In English, some say,
That reads like da rocket science
And some ignoramus say
It is worse, if not a Greek or Latin curse.
