Egmore To Tambaram And Back...

Rating: 5.0

Monday, March 6,2006.

It was a journey within the Journey,

Like many...

Unlike many.

A baby of a passionate thought,

A baby of a Rude shock,

A baby of one man's agony, or

Rather of one woman's knack uncanny.

One thing it was surely not...

It was not of many.

It began at 1.30 pm and ended at 7 pm

With a bit of `extra time',

With a bit of topping on a melting ice-cream,

To ensure a result,

To see the meltdown.

In between,

It was all one could ask for after a love-less month.

The Rouge welcome,

Like that 'unseasonal' shower.

The gentle escort,

Like that black sarong kissing the stilettos.

And then, the rythmic journey,

Standing at right angles, her lips close to his cheeks.

The distance narrowing with every passing pole,

With every passing tree, with every stolen glance,

By everyone.

With every lie told, with some secrets opened,

With every spoken word,

And unspoken.

Between Egmore and Tambaram.

At Tambaram.

Her Tambaram.

Here, ``we reign supreme'',

She said as they crossed the road to MCC campus.

Green, organised,

Unlike their lives.

Full, to say,

Much like their lives.

In the silence of the convocation humdrum,

On the sides, on arterial avenues,

Began a game of attrition.

So she was to say later, a wild goose hunt,

With experience.

He did not last,

As was the experience.

He did not play,

As was the experience.

He begged.

Perhaps, he was himself an animal,

Another goose.

Back...

Her back on him.
