Ecstasy Poem by Brandon Shutter

Ecstasy

Holding you close, bathing in your presence,
struggling to catch my balance - lost in a current
of passionate confusion, our lovemaking endlessly fervent.
Gasping for air like I'm taking my first breath,
sight still blurry, blinded by ecstasy.

My mind a vertigo - out of body experience
floating in nothingness, refusing to come back down.
Peace and tranquility surround me
clashing against the turmoil of the drumming sounds
of blood pounding inside my skin.

Undone, lost, weak - dissolved of strength,
unable to think - no matter how hard I try.
The look in your eyes, as glazed as mine
sex putting us to sleep like the perfect lullaby.

I catch my breath, air rushing into my lungs
you touch my hand, fingers become intertwined
I lick my lips - salt covers my taste buds
the sweet tastes of passion, the thrill of your scent
envelopes my nostrils, smelling of sexual rosebuds.

I watch you close your eyes, eyelashes the perfect blanket,
a smile creeps on your lips, fatigue overtakes you
you sink into our bed - becoming overly delicate.
I tuck you in and watch the world turn dark
as I lose sight - welcoming another dreamless night.
