Earthen Utensils And Mahaprasadam
Everything cooked in Earthen pots
We consider such food as holy food,
Out of five basic elements
Earth element is one of them
Our body consists this element too,
Earthen utensils favour us a lot!
In olden days everything was cooked
In all Earthen utensils,
Modernity has brought up changes,
But still in temples theses are used,
Food cooked and offered to God
We call it as Mahaprasadam
As this holy food caries vibration of God,
Our Lord of Universe directs us to take
Such food which is hygiene and pure,
Such food which gives us calmness and peace,
This food is regarded as the best food!
We offer rice and pulses cooked in pure mind,
To our Holy Lord of Universe,
Before his car festival arrives,
Rice and Dal seasoned with cow's ghee,
Which is the clarified butter
Made from cow's milk,
We offer food with prayer and worship,
Purity is in process of purification!
Taking such earthen cooked rice
We rise like sun in mind's landscape,
Earthen utensils are still in use,
As the best scientific method of cooking
And preserving all micro-nutrients in food,
Such food lasts for long time
And it provides instantly pure energy,
God blesses us with his holy Mahaprasadam!

Back to Nature and back to the elements is a slogan we hear more often! Cooking in earthen pots are more hygienic and health prone. No toxic elements are there. Some of the chemical compounds in the non stick vessels and plastic bottles are hazardous to health. As you believe, the food cooked in Earthenware is more tasty and stays longer! I am hearing of 'Mahaprasadam' for the first time. Each state has its own unique culture. Enjoyed reading this poem!
