Early October Morning Poem by Glen Kappy

Early October Morning

The leaves
still mostly
hang

and butterflies land
then upward fly
in curlicues.

Summer speaks
to the rigid calendar:
'I refuse! '

I love your curlicues - butterfly calligraphy? So Summer's refusing to leave here? I wish. I see the temperatures in Albuquerque are still very warm and the days are sunny. Lucky you!

it is cooling down. we've had a few nights in the upper 30s. remember though there's typically a 30 degree or more difference between night and day. but yes, no freeze, still lots of leaves on trees, flowers still bloom, no chilly november gloom... stay toasty, laurie. and thanks! -glen
