The Sound of London traffic
On roads newly wet with rain,
As the light of a new day dawning,
Can be seen through my window pane.
It is four fifteen in the morning,
Traffic noise hits the air,
As Londoners begin their workday,
But, why should I care?
I woke up early ~ I could not sleep more,
I made a cup of tea,
I will go back to bed to rest more,
And get up when I can see.
For outside it is still dark,
The day has not fully dawned,
Although the roads are busy,
At four thirty in the morn.
I went to bed last night early,
I was so tired ~ you see,
That is why I awoke so early,
To make a cup of tea.
