Dusty Heart
The heart is the throne of our being,
From where issues of life come forth.
What's stored there lace the words we're saying
Where hidden thoughts and feelings find birth.
The heart's more deceitful than we realize.
And only its Creator knows it well.
He alone can expose it before our very eyes
Bare its darkness and strip off its own shell.
What is there that still gnaws at our peace?
Are there tendrils of bitterness around it?
To ourselves we pretend and the truth we miss
So the happiness we seek - we forfeit.
We cannot uproot what we skillfully deny.
We can't go forward if we still live in the past.
If we've made the heart our prison.then we must not lie,
Only we can clean it up and get rid of its dust.

This is a favorite proverb of mine, Cynthia. In a contemporary version—above all things guard your heart for that's where life starts. -Glen
If the heart learns to forgive then we can live a life with out hate. A great poem.
