I can feel your disappointment as I stagger through the door
When just last night I promised that I wouldn't drink no more
But the long hard days and the heavy loads been getting the best of me
Guess I'm not as strong a man as I thought that I could be

All the times you sit and listen to things that you don't understand
And you comfort me by saying that I'm a good hard working man
Then you lay down close beside me and say everything's ok
But I feel you're being cheated cause it shouldn't be this

That dam old truck broke down again and my back is going out again
And the boss keeps finding more for me to do
I'm really feeling low again and honey here I go
I spend the day collecting garbage then I come home and dump on you
