Duhallow Migrants Poem by Francis Duggan

Duhallow Migrants

One from Kanturk or Cullen, Kilcorney or Millstreet
A Duhallow migrant anywhere one could meet
From Lismire, Rockchapel, Knockscovane, Meelin or Kiskeam
They travel the World in search of fortune and fame.

From Rathcoole, Glenlara and old Knocknagree,
Aubane, Newmarket and Derrinagree
People from these places you could meet anywhere
Many Duhallow migrants in the big World out there.

Migrants from Ballydaly and Freemount as well as Banteer
Share one thing in common home to their hearts is dear
And home is Duhallow their own countryside
A fact from others they never do hide.

From Ballydesmond and Kilbrin, Nadd and Boherbue
They live in big cities far beyond the sea
People from Dromtarriffe, Tullylease or Castlemagner anywhere one could meet
In any big city or on any street.
