Drugs Stole Dad Poem by Anthony August

Drugs Stole Dad

Rating: 4.5

My Dad left me, twenty two years ago.
It wasn't his fault, and he wasn't that old.
Drugs came in and took him, without a word.
Didn't ask any permission, Which is kind of absurd.
My mommy was mad, and my sisters upset.
My grandma confused, with how he left.
I was his only boy, but now I'm the man.
With his shoe's to fill, or the best that I can.
Being a teen, was really hard.
Not sure how to shave, or use the right guard.
Protecting my Mom, and my sisters too.
From other guy's, still alone in these shoe's.
Got to my twenties, started seeing the light.
Allot better times, and less of the fights.
Thirties where better, we're all settled down.
Finally good guy's, started coming around.
Still I wish I new him, and he knew me.
I'm now the same age, Drugs made him leave
