Drops Poem by Kay Allen

Drops

Rating: 4.5

it seems as though it will never get any easier
drops of mountain dew on my hand
makes things seem real
I know
I'm dreaming in this ever after moment
of life becoming bearable
though I know the truth
it's only a matter of time until
it catches up to me
showing on my face
the troubles I've seen
rising above it is not the answer
no...
rising above
is beyond what can happen now
I can only bow out gracefully
smiling
tearfully accepting the inevitable
saying to all
(I tried..)
sun beaming down on my near disappearing
existence
head in my hands
knowing that this is the last hoorah
so

HOORAH!
looking into loving eyes of my lovechild
the only thing worth living for
I see
his love for me
and I try one more time
but
life
pulls
me
down
again...

it seems as though things will never
get easier
drops of mountain dew on my hand
makes reality

(real)

This is a very sad poem, Kay. Still, sadness is a part of life. you have described it well.
