Drinking My Own Cup Of Tea... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Drinking My Own Cup Of Tea...

will it be a case
of this, that you scratch
my back and then
i too must scratch yours?

you praise me and then i owe
you and so i have to praise
you in return?

i am far sighted, and i
only see those that are far
from me.

you are shortsighted, and
you wish that i become your
perfect compliment.

i am independent like a free
falling ball that is thrown up
and then must come down.

i hit the ground and that is good
enough for me.
so don't bother, as i bother no one
so must you too, not bother me.

i love it here sitting alone
basking under the moon, drinking
my own cup of tea.
