Drifting Away In The Ether Poem by Adam Jeffries

Drifting Away In The Ether

Rating: 5.0

Drifting through the ether
Floating on the wings of the wind
Staring through the windows
That show the souls within

I take along my magic
I hurry toward the road
I wish that I could take you
To the places my mind goes

Hold on to my madness
The river in which I flow
Hold on to my laughter
Without you I can’t go

Been to the banks of the floodwaters
Was tempted to jump in
Held the match of glory
Burned up in my hand

If only I could be the man I want to be
Live in the place I dreamed up long ago
If only there was laughter
In the hearts of those I know

I’m like a tumbleweed blowing
Across the desert floor
I hear the echoes panging
Throughout insanity’s store

Not sure I’m looking for forgiveness
Or even a good friend
Know I’d like to live beyond the loneliness
Of the world that I live in

So many deep dark secrets
Alive in me the world you don’t know
Drifting in the ether
Looking in windows for a partner to my soul

My screams here, they are muted
My anguish you don’t hear
The bitter facade of my laughter
Protects you from the man that stands here

I’m rooted with the devil
I’m raised up reaching for the gods
My arms outstretched to heaven
Don’t let me go so wrong

Please hold me in the morning
Hold me through the day
Hold me in the sunset
Before I drift away
Please hold me
Before
I drift
away
