Dried Petal!!! Poem by Hitesh Chowdhury

Dried Petal!!!

There is a dried petal of that last yellow rose rummaging through;
that yet to be completely unpacked bags.
It bothers me, that the petal finds herself lonely;
more than the fact that my bags are still unpacked as if i am not to stay here any longer!

Oh look! ! ! there it is! ! ! My earrings, have i ever told you what they are?
Did i show you what a skull looks like when i don them and walked on the streets?
This one has a marijuana on it, the same grass we needed to share;
And these are the thorns that i carefully picked from that rose before i gave it you with a kiss every morning, yes i wear them on the cartilage of my ears.

Look at this old blue silk tie, look how crumpled and sad it looks.
It seems like the burden of this world has wrung it's life out;
I was sad that day as if i had lost my favorite parakeet in the clothes drier.
Could that have meant for the petal to die, surrounded by such pity?
That is a recorder, it stills remembers how you held it in your hands;
Listening to the recitals of Pablo Neruda,
You became that serenity i imagined, listening to your voice every day from that far off land.
You said you loved how I sounded reciting those verses that you hold dear to your heart,
And i replied, 'I love how i sound, only because it's for you to hear.'
Do you remember? Or was it that petal saying, 'Tonight i can write the saddest lines.
