Dope Man In White Poem by Garrett Richardson

Dope Man In White

Nothing has changed
Moderate suffering
Replaced by pain
Reflected by this mirror
I stand ashamed

Given pills to make me well
Beginning the reconstruction
Of my hell

My fate has been set
I sit and wait for death
It's the only thing that hasn't happened yet

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I used to be an addict. After stopping i had severe withdrawals. I also had a fear that after going to the doctor for help, i would be prescribed pills to help. But what i was truly fearful of was getting addicted to the pills.
