Don’t Cross Me Poem by Chance Foreman

Don’t Cross Me

I am invisible
And I span the earth
Don’t cross me without good reason
For some, once passing me, my unforgiving eye means death
For others, freedom
My embrace is gentle
My reach is long
I work for no one
For I am the cold gray area between hope and despair
I have broken the gentle fingers of a lovers touch
And banished the two hearts to a small room where memory dances on the wall
Men have died for me
Wars have been fought over me
I am not the reason for war
But, I sometimes have been the cause
I am the borderline
