Don Quixote's Mail Poem by Paul Hartal

Don Quixote's Mail

Don Quixote opened his mailbox.
He carefully sorted out its contents
but what he found there
was just the regular junk
of advertising.

He almost threw all the mail
into the recycling bin
but then he noticed the letter.

On the ivory envelope
his name and address
were written by hand in blue ink.
The stamps looked interesting,
colorful and exotic.

Don Quixote opened the envelope
and unfurled the folded paper.
The letter consisted of a single page.
Eager to read it
he saw at the top the opening word
that said: Hi.

Then he stared at the page
but to his disappointment,
it was for the most part empty.

At the bottom of the letter
there was a brief and signed massage:

Keep in touch!
