Does It Matter? Poem by C.F. Wilkins

Does It Matter?

Somewhere between dark and light
there's a mystical gray ocean
(somewhere between black and white...)
of suspended emotions.

Does it matter?

Does it matter at all
when pain wails
and fake love fails?
Does it matter at all?

In the race
from day into night
is there space
between wrong and right?

Does it matter at all?

Why is there hatred
which begs to increase
while attacking the sacred
that harbors our peace?

Does it matter that...

there are faces with scars
that cry for relief
from bloodshedding wars
that cause their grief?

Is everything relative
with greed to vent?
Or with compassion to give
are these things relevant?

Does it matter at all?

Why are there tears
in the eyes of the poor
as needs and fears
still plunder their door?

Does it matter?

It should matter...
to us all.
