Do Not Weep Poem by Suu Casey Young

Do Not Weep

Do not weep at my passing.
Do not talk as if I’m gone.
Though I may no longer be there,
know that my presence is still as strong.
Photo’s are of the shell
my spirit wore when with you.
But memories are the substance
of how my spirit grew.
Remember how I laughed and cried,
the wise or funny things I said.
Remember the times we spent together
and know my spirit is not dead.
When family or friends needed me
I couldn’t always be there,
but without the burden of my body,
I’ll be with you all, no matter where.

Do not weep at my passing.
Do not talk as if I’m gone.
Tell your children all about me
and my life will carry on.
I’ll be there as long as I’m needed,
you can talk to me anytime.
No need for a special building,
no need for a special shrine.
My spirit will surround you,
I will share your joy and pain.
Although my body has failed me
we will see each other again.
No tears need you shed,
my spirit no longer needs a home.
For I am as I ever was
A spirit free to roam.
