Distance Was No Object Poem by Phil Soar

Distance Was No Object

It began so far away it was unthinkable
That somehow it would reach where we all are
Who knew we would be captive and so vulnerable
To something that had started from afar

And now we all fear something that is tangible
The merest touch might mean we fade away
Into a world so scary and unmanageable
And the best thing we can do is sit and pray

Distance was no object to it's viscious path
No longer can we be safe everywhere
And even if we could extinguish all it's wrath
This demon would just hover in the air

When they can say, "it's over", they might all debate
But all that we can do is hold our breath
And try and fight this evil that could seal our fate
Though all this stuff has scared us all to death
