Disjointed (Parts 1,2, & 3) Poem by bob barci

Disjointed (Parts 1,2, & 3)

I

I thought I saw you yesterday.
Walking down the street on the other side.
I called your name,
but you didn’t hear.
What were you thinking of?
What had you so deep in thought?

II

Lines ran across my brain.
Lines that wouldn’t go away.
Lines that I thought would make a good poem.
Lines that were lost with a cab ride.
Driver took them away
when he arrived.
Driver stole them from me by getting me distracted.

III

Sunday,9: 30 a.m..
Quietness surrounds me.
Breakfast sits in the kitchen
waiting to be nuked.
I smell decaf chocolate coffee brewing.
The birds play in their cages.
So quiet - I can hear your faint snoring.
I smile and chuckle.
The sun shines in from the window.
I hear birds chirping.
People walking by on the street.
It’s peaceful.
I drink coffee in the morning quiet.
One of the birds says hello to me.
I hello back and take him out.
He sits on my shoulder
and snuggles up to me.
Sunday morning -
a most quiet time.
