People have a habit
Of letting others down
I don't think it's intentional
Even though it makes us frown

When someone makes a promise
Then, they do not follow through
Some people take it personal
Which is a normal thing to do

You cannot understand it
Because you're not that way
When you make a commitment
You're dedication will never stray

When ever you make a pledge
To lend a helping hand
You never leave them stranded
Because you understand

That when you give your word
It should be as solid as gold
As you've gone through life
This was something you've been told

That's why it's hard to understand
When someone does not follow through
You just cannot accept it
Because that is not you
