Digitally Dependent Poem by derrick foster

Digitally Dependent

cell in hand
a second at he ready
laptop on deck
no rest for the digitally dependent
a new virtual god to worship
can't live without it
any current technological advance
will do though they don't know how to use them
a Kindle to rekindle
a need to read
a tablet to tap into the cyber world
an arena for the digitally dependent
can't leave home without it
these are a life line
a means to communicate
more so to isolate
made to bring us closer
make talking easier
or perhaps destroy the English language
how we speak and spll
taking text to a lesser level
the way of the digitally dependent
the loss of eye contact
the need to touch
any screen seen
just can't put it down
oops i dropped it
not the proper use for this
it doesn't bounce
see how it cracks
this fragile idol
of the digitally dependent
always in hand
needed to replace
much in demand
yet hard to understand
the digitally dependent
