Descent Poem by Miraj Raha

Descent

Finally I feel the pull
by that tenebrous force
sucking me into the dimension
of the mortal sphere.

My consciousness widens
defying the boundaries of
the Universe, as I, single
and deathless become
Omnipresent.

In tremendous speed I descend,
once more attracted to the sweet
temptations of the magical cycle
of birth and death.

A brief pause in the journey,
and I feel the whispers of the
mortal world shrouding my
existence.

Another pause -
and I am greeted with
The same laughing, shouting,
crying throng, encapsulated
within a world of reasons
and limits and I like a
caged bird sing reluctantly
to the rhythm of my new life.

Interesting subject matter. I'm interested in spirituality, but I'm not sure I would think about it as you do. That made the poem a fun read for me... to get a window into a different perspective. What does it mean to be single, deathless, and omnipresent? Reminds me of the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost....? Hmmm. Then you enter the world like a caged bird in your new life. Is this a way of describing the concept of living multiple lives and rebirth? Nice poem.

Hi Pamela, Thank you for your interest in my work. This poem is about a descent of a soul from the highest level of consciousness to the lowest. From the refined to the most gross.I would like to explain you my thoughts regarding your observation.Single here means the One Universal Consciousness, one which is complete and continuous, varying only in degree not in kind, it is rather what you can call as The Absolute, It is the one Universal Being that is what we call the PARAM ATMA.All the individual souls are part of this bigger soul and that has to be deathless and Omnipresent in all Creation. In the poem, the part where I mention my consciousness widens...that in itself indicates my lower individual consciousness widens to merge with the Absolute, just before making the descent, it is the most highest level of consciousness from where every soul descends to the earthly realm, though I am not claiming the accuracy of my prediction, but my work in itself is pure fiction, but it has nothing to do with Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. Regarding your second observation you are absolutely correct, the caged bird sings to the rhythm of his new life explain the method of reincarnation and rebirth, and that is the last place of descent into the earthly realm where a new life takes birth.Thank you again for reading.
