Dereliction And Decay Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Dereliction And Decay

A downward trend for a decade or two
Resurgence depends on whether or not
Traffic rules are mandatory-
The violations as such over-speeding
Jumping over traffic-signals
Caring a fig for the seat-belts
Careless attitude taking away the lives
Very often, in a large number of cases
Fatal and tragic accidents but no lesson.

Pondering over the recent moment-
When, everyone over-speeds in hate
Jumping over the rules of the road
Let's seek private or public attention
Recklessness is not a compliment
A heavy price is being paid for-
And the story ends before it begins.

When, picking up driving as a profession
By chance, rather than by choice
Love for life is almost lost-
Similarly, lost romantic idea of identity
All hopes amid dereliction and decay.
