Demolition 101 Poem by Tushar Nanda

Demolition 101

This photograph is but a piece of paper
Destined to meet its fate
Like the tide meets the shore
And this stone the icy depths

So go on burn it down
Or wait for nature to take its course
To fade it in rotting brown
Or let the roaches take their toll

To keep it preserved would be in vain
As to hope the sun wont set
As a heart doesn't beat
Once it has been stoned to death

So go on now just bury it in the graveyard
With multitudes already regretting their past
No use mummifying it as a piece of trophy
In the hope of a miracle to materialize

To look at it would only increase the heartache
To dwell in the past would give no one pleasure
Except the course of time which would be chuckling in glee
To see it being used so well

So go on just snip it into unrecognizable shreds
And scatter over a mile radius
So that the probability of them reuniting together
Would become insignificant enough not to try

Learn to let the uncomfortable memories go
And live in the present like no tomorrow
Cause its no use fretting and pondering over a lost cause
Which offers no hope and only sorrow

So go on treat it to some sulfuric acid
And watch the layer bubble away to fumes
And pour the liquid in a patch of green
Where you never want to see a flower bloom

So go on and do it
Now is the time
To start the chapter afresh
And bury this one down in the depths of time
