Deliverance Aborted Poem by Boghos Artinian

Deliverance Aborted

The old man seemed fed up of aging,

for every time his physician

made him a house call he complained

of aches and pains that did not respond

to the medications any more.

'Doctor, can't you give me an injection

that would deliver me from this life? '

This request eventually became habitual,

repeated during every house call.

The physician was also fed up

and one day decided to contest

the old man's request, so he said,

'Today I am going to oblige

to your repeated requests to be delivered.

I brought the injection you asked for.'

'Doctor, can't we leave that for some other time? '
