Deliver Us Poem by Joshua Perry

Deliver Us

If I could walk in your shoes I would cry
Just because I was honored by such a gift
To behold your grace and beauty
I will never forget you
And your righteousness

If I could look at you I would weep
Because such holiness is a blessing to gaze at
I wish I could have known you as you were on earth
But I would never give up my gift to know your spirit
And how that spirit races inside my soul
And my blood courses
Just to please you

I’m not worthy of your gift
But you gave it to me anyway
The king of kings is more than I could ever dream
He is everything that is right and pure
And God is all that one could imagine and more

If I could make sin go away
I would make this world right and just
But we killed you Christ
Our sinful nature took the only beautiful thing in the world
We sent you away from our ugly world

I know not why we are the way we are
All I know is we need you again Lord
Oh God, we have once again strayed from your grace
How many times must we leave your flock.

The shining oasis in the desert of sin
But sin casts a mighty storm when we reach for it
It blinds us with the sand of seduction and earthly treasure
We need a light to shine the way to you
As was done so long ago

Whenever you choose to save us from this earth
I will not be overcome with fear lord
I will rejoice God “All children come, for our father has come to bring us home! ”
You will deliver us from the wolves of sin
Hurry Lord, please save your brothers
Save your children God, we are lost
