Declaration Of Independence Revisited Poem by Alexander Shaumyan

Declaration Of Independence Revisited

When the tyrants lock people down in their homes
And force them to wear masks,
Whether or not they do anything or
The 'deadly threat' is real,
When they destroy small businesses,
While making huge profits for big corporations,
While deeming everyone else 'nonessential',
When they muzzle free speech
In the name of
Hate speech or political correctness,
When they allow BLM and Antifa to burn buildings
And loot local businesses,
While calling it 'peaceful demonstrations'
In the midst of chaos, arson,
Murder and violence,
As they gather in large crowds,
Ignoring 'social distancing'
When they use fraud, virus scare, fraudulent
Mail-in ballots and rigged machine tabulation,
Phony audits and threats
To steal a landslide reelection
From a popular president,
While using false narratives and propaganda
To label his supporters
Insurrectionists and domestic terrorists—
Banning them from social media
And censoring their voices
As dangerous disinformation
Like in the former Soviet Union
Or in communist China or North Korea…

Then in the Course of human events,
It becomes necessary for one people
To dissolve the political bands
Which have connected them with another,
And to assume among the powers of the earth,
The separate and equal station to which
The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God
Entitle them, a decent respect
To the opinions of mankind requires
(And 'mankind' is OK to use to refer to humanity)
That they should declare the causes which
Impel them to the separation—
And to declare the New Sovereignty of the People,
By the People, and for the People—
And tell that senile fraud in the White House
That he is not and will never be
Our President.
