Deception Poem by Dereck Gibbs

Deception

Sweet words tease my ears
So sweet so loving
Its like a sugar rush
Rushing to love

She whispered to me

She loves me with her words
I tell her silent secrets
Sharing a dream of loneliness
Better than being lonely

She tells me everything
She tells me nothing
Time wasted on this romance

You mark me a leper
Hiding from me
Like a child in this grown game
Words are eaten in your throat

Afraid to offend maybe
I don’t know. I’m not you
Played me for a fool
Made me sit here
In this corner of isolation

I gave you a piece of me
Glimpse into dereck world
But you refused the tickets
Scorning my efforts

Hell must have sent you from below
But I don’t care
Just another dagger in an already dead heart
