Death By Nostalgia Poem by Karen Esperanza

Death By Nostalgia

Down, Down, Down,
We go down the same road we've always driven on
Down to the familiar place where dreams live on

We walked down the same old fields
Where luscious greens would soon reveal the place where we
Fell in love

And we... stripped down
We stripped down
Moon
Lights flashing before the horizon

And trailing my fingers down your spine
I remember when we thought that all we had was time

And I could plant all the daisies in the world
But they would never grow unless you watered them
And you could plant all the daisies in the world'
But they would never grow unless I watered them

~

Trailing down a yellow street lined with all the blooms fallen to the ground
Did they make a sound?
Did you see them fall?
Like you saw me, fall.

And tracing my fingers down the crease of your spine
These memories now only reside inside of my mind

'Cause now you are an ocean apart from me
And its no secret that I want to sail the seas
Though I'd never want to anchor upon your shores
'Cause I know you'd leave me there broken and all alone

~

You feel so good inside my memory
But you turn to rust when you're infront of me
Yeah you turn to rust when you're infront of me
