Dear Santa Poem by Jesse Artley

Dear Santa

I know it has been a while since I wrote
You wouldn't have read them anyway
See, thing is I've been so out of it
I've put the Grinch to shame
My mistakes should've put me the naughty list forever
Kept my head on straight to right my wrongs
I'll try to keep this short and sweet/
Because you're overwhelmed this time of year
I understand that most of your usual requests
Are for toys, horses and ponies
What I need is just a little different
Don't want to be another hallmark cliché
But, here I stand before you
A broken, tired, almost bitter man
Only asking for someone to help me with my holiday spirit
Someone to make me believe again,
To end this heartache
